The void
What is Sin?
"What is sin if not an attempt to fill the void ?" they say,
The void, the loneliness, life’s shadowy gray.
A result of hopes and solace destroyed,
Of a lonely soul, helpless and annoyed.
Pride craves worth, a throne to ascend,
Greed seeks more, where needs never end.
Lust yearns for closeness, fleeting yet bold,
Gluttony fills what love cannot hold.
Sloth numbs the void by providing escape,
Wrath erupts only from a heart full of regret,
The one that faces the loneliness, it must accept.
Envy yearns for what it cannot gain,
Hoping having what others have might ease the pain.
But I believe all human acts seek to remove the void,
To fight the weight of life’s cruel trap that they can't avoid.
Perhaps to sin is to strive, to change our fate,
To fill the void of life, to question our own state.
So is a sinner truly lost, or is sin a quest?
A rebel’s anthem, a trial or a test?
For humans can't bear the void which they feel,
And through sin or virtue, they seek to heal.
Perhaps the sinner, in their struggle, might win-
If not, at least they're content with their sin,
For it's not the result but the efforts that determine courage.
So a sinner may not be a winner,
But definitely a courageous loser.
